Interviewing in English as a second language
Thinking in one language and answering in another is tiring, especially under pressure. Ghostpilot listens in the interview's language and shows short answers in the language you choose.
How it works
- Set the interview language (what Ghostpilot listens for), for example English.
- Set the answer language: English to read and say, or your own language to understand the question fast. "Same as the question" follows whatever is spoken.
- Pick a short length and the bullets or script format, so the answer is easy to say in your own words.
One question, the answer in your language
The interviewer asks, in English: "Why do you want to leave your current job?" Choose the answer language:
- In four years on the payments team I've grown a lot, and I'm ready to lead a project end to end.

What helps when English isn't your first language
- Separate listening and answer languages. The interview can be in English while you read in Italian, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Dutch and more.
- Short, plain answers. Set the length to short and the format to bullets: key points you can say in your own words instead of reading a paragraph.
- Transcription you can check. The question appears as text about half a second after the interviewer stops, so you can re-read what was asked.
- Cloud transcription for accents and other languages. On-device transcription covers the languages of your Mac's dictation; cloud transcription adds many more and detects the language automatically.
- Practice in the job's language. Mock interviews in the dashboard run in the language of the job, with feedback on pace, filler words and pauses.

Use short bullets rather than a full script, and say the points in your own words. Practise a few mock interviews first so the rhythm feels familiar.
