AI help for coding interviews
Press ⌘⇧X on a coding problem and Ghostpilot shows the approach, working code, its complexity and the edge cases to mention, in a few seconds. Use it to practise, to understand a solution, and to explain your own code.

How it works
- Open the problem anywhere on screen: a practice site, a shared editor, a PDF.
- Press ⌘⇧X to capture the screen, or drag to select just the problem. In Fast mode the text is read on your Mac and only that text is sent; Quality mode sends the cropped picture, useful for diagrams.
- Read the answer in the overlay: the approach in plain words first, then the code, the time and space complexity and the edge cases.
What the overlay shows
An example for a classic problem: given a list of numbers and a target, return the positions of the two numbers that add up to the target.
Walk the list once and remember every number you've seen with its position. For each new number, check whether target − number is already remembered. If it is, you have the pair.
def two_sum(nums, target):
seen = {}
for i, n in enumerate(nums):
if target - n in seen:
return [seen[target - n], i]
seen[n] = i
return []- Time: O(n), one pass over the list.
- Space: O(n) for the map.
- Sorting and two pointers would use O(1) extra space but lose the original positions.
- Duplicates such as 3 + 3 = 6 work, because each number is checked before it is stored.
- No pair: return an empty list (or ask the interviewer what they expect).
- Negative numbers and zero need no special handling.
Set your preferred programming language and how detailed answers are in Settings. Coding and system-design answers use the premium model on the Pass and Pro plans.
What you get
- Approach first, code second. Interviewers want to hear how you think, so the answer opens with the idea in one or two sentences.
- Complexity and edge cases with every solution, ready to talk through.
- System design questions get a structure: requirements, components, data flow, trade-offs.
- Area selection: drag over just the problem so nothing else on screen is included.
- Your own code in VS Code: the VS Code extension explains, reviews, optimises or solves the code you select, in VS Code, Cursor or Windsurf on any computer.
- Mock coding interviews in the dashboard: answer out loud, get a score and notes.

Use it where it's allowed
Many online assessments and some employers don't allow assistants during a test. Read the rules and respect them. Ghostpilot is most useful for practice, for understanding solutions before the interview, for explaining your own code, and in interviews where AI help is fine.
Questions
Which programming languages does it answer in?
Any common language: Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C++, Go, C#, Swift, Kotlin, SQL and more. Set your preferred programming language in Settings (Python by default).
Does it work with LeetCode, HackerRank or CoderPad?
It reads the problem from your screen, so it works with any site or app that shows the problem: LeetCode, HackerRank, CodeSignal, CoderPad, Codility, a PDF or a shared editor.
Is the screenshot uploaded?
In Fast mode, no: the text is read on your Mac and only that text is sent. Quality mode sends the cropped picture, which helps with diagrams. Select just the problem so nothing else on screen is included.
Can I use it on Windows?
The live overlay is a Mac app. The VS Code extension works on Windows and Linux for code you select, and the web dashboard (mock interviews, question bank) runs anywhere.
